At the Police Court on Thursday, before. Messrs T. Blackley and T.. Morland, J.'sP., Norman Burgess, poundkeeper to the South Rakaia Board, sued E. Culloty for the sum of £3 16s sd, fees in connection with a horse impounded, winch had since been destroyed. Evidence was given that the animal did not at the time belong todefendant, and the case was dismissed. There is now on view at Mr Liddy's/ shoy in Rakaia sonta splendid specimens of .the Endurance and Dakota Red potatoes. The tubers were grown by Sir E. J. Carney on his farm at the Mead,-and are of a large size, a good shape, and with clean skins. One effect of the railway curtailment Is that timber is now being carted from Ashburton.
