WEST COAST MILLS.
GREYMOUTH, July 9. • The coal shortage has not ■ affected the local sawmilling. The West Coast mills can keep going so long as there is sufficient coal to run steamers and the existing train service is not reduced. Timber is still being shipped to Welllington and Lyttelton and the output would be improved if more sawmill and bush workors were available. The Mayor has wired to Dr. Thacker asking him to endeavour to get the Saturday express restored, as the present arrangements are quite unsuitable and are causing the public great inconvenience. >..
