SEAMEN'S STRIKE.

The Manuka- is all 1 ready to sail, with 300 passengers' aboard, but a full crew is not available.
"A prolonged shipping strike is now expected. The seamen's officials are unlikely to endeavour to effect a settlement until a move is made by the Government and fc'he shipowners.
(Received July 9, 11.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 9, The Manuka sailed at 7 o'clock.
The./seamen. have, decided to stand loyally together until their claims are granted. The first strike pay is being issued to-day. As a result of the seamen's strike the Broken Hill Proprietary Works at Newcastle are closing'down, rendering 4000 idle.

Then Federal Cabinet, after a lengthy consideration of the seamen's strike, decided to take and enforce a. certain lino of action. Mr Watt refused to give details.
• The Coal Board . will enforce all power restrictions after Saturday. PERTH^ July 9. As a result of the maritime strike, semi-famine conditions prevail in the North-west.
