SIR D. HAIG'S APPPEAL.

Pensions Select Committee, strongly . condemned the v ' treatment of ex-officers, . especially the disabled. Some, he said, were actually starving, and tliero were many cases of ex-offi-cers, and their -families living in povertyJ and being unable to educate the children. 1
Sir Douglas asked: How''can the nation' rejoice over a victorious peace,, when those who have given everything in. tho struggle are in such want? .He offered a number of suggestions to remedy the defects of-the- fresent system and advocated increased allowances. . • '-, v;
