,<.': (Unit<jd Service.) r . PAWS, June 2& Mr Hughes refused to sign the Nauru agreement, claiming that Australia does not agree to the principle of compensation of the company on war values. New Zealand's share of compensation would be about £600,000, and Australia's £1,000,000. The company charged £2 per ton for phosphate during the war, and expects to maintain this price.
