DOMINION DELEGATES.

A FAREWELL LUNCHEON

■ (Received June 14, 1.30. p.m.) LONDON, June 13. Sir Thos. Mackenzie presided at the farewell, luncheon to Mr Massey and Sir J. Ward at the Connaught Rooms. Mr Wason,, 31.P., proposed Mr Massey's health. : 'Mr, Massey-said that there were indications of important developments at the Peace Conference during the next few days, but- the Empire will take whatever comes with steadfastness. If the League, of Nations is going to be successful,. there must bo an adequate force behind it. \ This brings* up the whole question of disarmament, which was one of-the Conference's .difficulties. Now .Zealand, it was .reported, would recoive a mandate over the Samoan islands, hut was willing to hand them to Britain to-day if Britain chose to accept them. They will not cost NeF Zealand a penny in, the end, though there were difficulties the League must overcome, including the problem of Chinese labour. ' The Hon. W. P{ Reeves proposed.the health'-of Sir J. Ward, who said that he hoped the Germans would sign peace by June 25, but the Allied leaders were not going to yield on the essential points. If peace were not signed by June 25, the Allies must march to Berlin. The' Empire was not going to run away from peace.
