OBITUARY.
MR. DAVID AMOS.
Another old resident of Ashburton, iv the person of Mr David Amos, passed away yesterday afternoon at his late residence, Cox Street, in his seventieth year.
. Born at Swansea, Tasmania, in'lßso;, the late Mr Amos arrived in New Zea*land when he was eighteen years of age, and for some years was engaged in varioust pursuits in North Canterbury, eventually coming to' Ashburton in the year 1873. Deceased followed the occupation of a book-keeper, -and was in the employ of the "late<K. Lancaster, butcher, in the early daysj also other old-established firms, including 'Messrs Tucker's Ltd., whom lie was with for over ten years.
Being of a cheery disposition, he made many friends, and his death will be regretted by many old associates. He was one of the first members of the Foresters' Lodge, being, secretary,,.for many years. 'He leaves a- widow and six sons. >
