The unusual lengthy spell of fine weather, combined with the limiting of matches to two days, has brightened county cricket, resulting in large attendances and a great revival of interest in tho game. Well-known cricketers are rapidly recovering their pre-war,., form, particularly Hobbs (Surrey), Hendren- (Middlesex),' (Perrin (Essex), J. V\\ Hearne ("Middlesex). ' Twentyfour centuries, including two by Aus- . tralians, were scored in • first-class , cricket during the last eight days, including double centuries by Perrin, 126 and 101 not out against Kent, and George Gunn (Notts) 169 and 185 not out against Surrey.- Despite the high scoring, in a. fair' proportion of the j matches there have been some excelj lent bowling performances, the most prominent being Stevens, a Middlesex schoolboy, .7 for 104 and 3 for 32 against Hampshire. .
