' The Metro film to be screened at His Majesty's Theatre this evening is ■'•' Barbara Frietchie," which will feature Mary Miles • Minter. Barbara Frietchie is celebi-ating her eighteenth birthday in Frederick, Md., and the town-is strong in the grip of Northern soldiers. To. avoid a group of boys,, pursuing her in a kissing game, Barbara darts out of her house and climbs a small tree. Union soldiers, who are foraging for food, stop under the tree to divide their spoils. Barbara's fears are aroused, an#\ she cries for help. Her shouts bring, among others. Captain Trumbull, of the Union command. Aeainst her wishes he assists ; her down, and others in the party invite him to the Frietchie home. Arthur Frietchie, Barbara's brother, has stolen through the Union lines, and attempts to enter his home that night as Captain Trumbull comes out. Union soldiers are in pursuit of Arthur, and Trumbull aids him to elude them. Barbara is softened toward Trumbull when she hears of this. Judge Frietchie afterwards finds Barbara and Trumbnll together, and attempts to kill the young captain, biit Barbara saves him. Trumbull is ordered away. Next day he receives a note from Barbara, saying . she will mfiet him at a minister's house in an adjoining town, and marry him as ho proposed. The couple meet, at the preacher's house, but hostilities suddenly break out, and the Confederates take the town. Barbara again saves the life of Trumbull by her quick wit and" true aim with a pistol. Trumbull is separated from liis command, 1 and hides in a thicket. Arthur observes the officer in hiding and fires. He is horrified to find he has shot Trumbull, the m^n who saved his life.. The! remainder of the story is 'full- of interest-, ing complications.
