The Wsishngton correspondent of the"New York Times" reports that a serious situation has arisen regarding the wheat crop of ]019. Tho Agricultural Committee'of: the. House of Repri<&oiitatives 'believes that: the Government- must provide millions of dollars to buy the crop, which will be sold, afc a .heavy loss. The'situation arises; be—; cause the Government guaranteed'far--' im»rs 225 cents per bushel for wheat grown in 1919. It is anticipated that the Government will' be compelled to sell at a loss of almost a dollar a bushel because of the sudden end of thewar and the fact that. Australian and Argentine wheat is selling at 135; cents in European markets.' Officials .expeefca very heavy harvest next year, which.. may compel the. Government to sell at 125 cents.
