WELLINGTON, Dec. 28

An inquest was held on tho body oj! Grace AJbrecht, wiio died on Decembei--23 after, being injured by her son Thomas, on December -1. The a&saiJant is on remand on a. charge of manslaughter. Dr. Fyfl'e stated tliab death was due to fj-acture of tho fourth vertebrae, which' would only bo the result of direct violence. Other medical evidence showed that deceased was ad . mitted to the hospital, .suffering, from paralysis on December IS, and bad died ten days later. Witnesses stated that Thomas came home drunk ant) quarrelled with his mother about ihe quality of his food, and struck her in the face. Shortly afterwards she wasin a state of. paralysis. Mr. Hidden, S.-Ai., brought in a verdict that death, was due to a fracture of tho spine dueto a blow inflicted by Thomas Albreehi-, on December 4.
