A. & P. ASSOCIATION.
COMMITTEE MEETING
A meeting: of tho committee of the .Ashburton A. and P. Association .was held this afternoon, when Mr J. Cow presided over a good attendance. Tho chairman referred to the death of Messrs J. M. Cambridge and J. Ruddick, two members of the association. The former had been a member of. the- association for about 30 years, and was ono of the oldest supporters of the association. He proposed that the• i-TVinpanhy of the committee, be for--warded' to the relatives of these, two gentlemen, which was agreed to.
The .District Traffic Manager, New Zealand Railways, in reply to The association's 'request for loading facilities at Ashburton' station, started that it was not considered necessary to erect stockyards at Ashburton station, but a bank at which horses can be dealt with will be provided.
Mr Bruce, did not think the repry was satisfactory, and moved that a further request Ixv made to the Department, and that it be pointed out that tho facilities were asked, for in the interests of the agricultural community of the Ashburton County, and not for the show only. The motion was soloed to unanimously.
■ The clerk, ' Ashhurtqn Cemetery Board, wrote asking'thV association '■ to contrithito towards the cost-.of kerbing and. asphalting the path from the town to tho cemetery. The quota for-each society interested was £44, —The letter was received. *
Recommendations were received from several committees regarding the .schedule, for the next show, •' and some alterations in last year's. programme wore made.
