PIG OWNER FINED.
MAGSSTRATE'S WARNING.
At the ' Ashburtoii Magistrate's Court this morning, before Mr V. G. Day, S.M., Findlay Mackenzie,' Inspector of Stock, Christehurch, proceeded against Thomas- Ponnall, Creek Road, Ashburton, on a charge of feeding swine on the:' unboiled carcases of a now and two calves, contrary to the Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1908. Defendant pleaded guilty.
Mackenzie stated that the Health Inspector. (E. N. Johnson) and, the Meat Inspector (T. J. Bucktoh) had occasion to visit Pennall's property, and found the, dead animals referred to in the pig yard.
Questioned by the Magistrate, defendant'said the carcases were placed in tho yard the d;iy before the inspector's visit, adding that he was unaware he was breaking the law.
In imposing a fine of 10s, with costs, Mr Day cautioned the defendant, remarkiue that in the event of a repetition of the breach a much heavier fine would be inflicted,
