MR R. FORSYTH.

The late Mi- Robert Forsyth arrived in New Zealand in the sinp Timaru. He was born in November, 1853, at Girvern, Scotland, and landed at Fort Chalmers in 1879. A. few months later he went to the West Coast, where ho worked in the aolclfields for 18 months, tie eamc to Canterbury find bought a portion of the Woodside Estate, Geralctine, whicli lie farmed for seven years. Having sold out, he came to the Ashburton district, and bought a portion of the Springfield Estate, Methven, which ih.o farmed for three years. The last four years he. retired from fanning, and lived in Ashburton. Mr Forsyth was on a holiday tour through the North Island at the time of his death, having only been a few days at his son's residence, Grafton Road, Auckland, lie made many friends, and was respected by all who knew him. He leaves a widow, four sons, and two daughters to mourn their loss. His daughters are Mrs Hamilton Lamb, of Valetta, and Mrs J. F. Cvum, of Jones Road, Ashburton. Mr Andrew Forsyth, the eldest son, is on active service, having enlisted with the Australian Light Horse nearly three years ago. Mr Robert Forsyth is a farmer at Fernside, Rangiora; Mr William Forsyth is a member of; the Police Force at Wanganui, and Mr Francis Forsyth is a member of tho Police Force at Auckland. Tho late Mr Forsyth was buried at Ashburton.
