DAYLIGHT ROBBERIES.
SYDNEY, May 31
A series of daring daylight robberies, now occupying the attention of the police, indicate the presence of a clever gang. At midday a man grabbed notes valued at £400 from the counter of the E.S.A. Bank, and escaped with the aid of confederates, two of whom are believed to have been arrested.
MELBOURNE, May 31
Two masked armed robbers held up two clerks who were about to enter the Government Printing \Oitice with over £4000, the employees' wages. They grabbed the bags and attempted to escape on a motor cycle, but oould not start it, so tli'ey fired a shot into the petrol tank to prevent pursuits They kept a crowd at bay with revolvers, and succeeded in escaping, althougn they dropped one bag contain iij_, £3000, which was recovered..
