CAREW.

Last Thursday a very enjoyable social and dance was given by the Carew residents to Private Harold Jaine, prior to his departure for the front. There was a large attendance, and a programme of musical items rendered by local artists was keenly appreciated. During the interval, the chairman, Mr Howard Barton, in an appropriate speech, asked Mr Robert Sim to present Private Jaine with a wristlet watch, as a memento from his Carew friends. After suitably responding, the recipient was given three hearty cheers by the audience. Dancing was kept up till the small hours of the morning, Messrs Eaden and Watson supplying the music, and Mr Foster acting as M.C. Votes of thanks were passed to Mr C. Jaine for the use of the building and the piano, and to all those, who had helped to make the gathering a success.
