ASHBURTON STOCK MARKET.
ASHBUIITON YARDS—THIS DAY
Owing'to harrest operations there was a small attendance and a correspondingly small entry at tho Ashburton yards to-day. The. fat sheep penned aggregated 1141, and included 122 ewes, 535 wethers, and 484 lambs. There was a good demand throughout at firm prices, and practically the whole of the fats were sold to freezing buyers and'butchers. The highest pricein ewes was obtained by Mr A. Hight, Seah'eld, who sold a, line of eight;'at 84s 4d. Mr T. Wakelin, Newlands, topped the market in wethers, and sold 30 at 34s Id. A pen of 34 prime lambs was sold on behalf of Mr F. Hanrahan at 29s 4d. Ewes sold at from 27s 3d to 34s 4d, wethers 30s to 34s Id. and lambs 26s 4d to 29s 4d. The yarding of stores aggregated 2032, and out of this number 106S were passed at auction. The highest price obtained for lambs was 21s 9d, while a line of 425 was passed at 24s .'J<l. A line of 118 four, six and eight-looth ewes was sold at 33s lOd, white a. lino of two-tooths were-passed, at the same price. Prices were:— • Sheep.
