MAORI ELECTION. THREE CANDIDATES EXPECTED.
(Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, February 5. A meeting of Maoris-, which Sir J. Carroll attended to help, was held at Puketeraki last night. It was expected that the National Government s candidate for the Southern Maori seat would be announced, but tins was not Hcnarc Parata, J. M. Kllison, and Tconi Topi, who had indicated their intention of standing, were all present,. After a discussion, Sir J. Carroll stated that there were three candidates, Parata, Ellison and Topi, and the feeling of the meeting was that these three should go to the poll.
