HAYWARD'S PICTURES
The- usual audience was in evidence when the tri-weekly change of programme wa-s made at Hi* Majesty's Theatre, on Saturday night, and it seems .safe to state that not one left the building disappointed. The greater part of the evening was taken up with the screening of an adaptation of Jackson Gregory's novel, "Under Handicap,',' a powerful story, of love and determination. The theme hingas round the experience of the son of a wealthy Nov.' York broker who over-indulges in fast city life and, being cut off by his father, is compelled to "paddle his own canoe." Ho obtains work on a station, and immediately falls in love with the owner's daughter, who rejects him. The youth, however, is so fascinated, with the girl of unusual bpauty that he makes a determined vow to win her. The scenes . through which is interwoven the absorbingly interesting story of how his ambition was realised have to be seen to bo appreciated. One of the features of the production is the scene showing tho construction of a collosal dam which is blown up by plotters and which, by the undaunted courage of the hero,.is rebuilt. in . time to save the fortunes' of the girl and his own honour. The programme will be repeated to-night.
