AN ALLIANCE RESOLUTION

t At a special meeting of the New Zealand Alliance executive the tallowing resolution was pasbed: — " That this meeting places on lecord j'ch deep thankfulness at the carrying of the measure of liquor reform contained in the provisions for p'" b'cldck, closing; congratulates the Prime Minister upon the- advantage ,whjch hfc took of the freedom pffeted by the rejection of the. entirety inadequate< eoini promise " offered ,by the Government measure to move itn «mendmont in favour of 6 o'cldct, w»tnd"upon< tho vfart that ho carried a- majority of his colloaguos with him, and tenders its lie.irtielt thanks to all the members of Cabinet and the members of both Flouses of Parliament who worked for tlu» Bill, and Lo thobevvho helped them to carry by so large a majority a, valuable and much-needed contribution to war economy and efficiency; and trusts that the Government will so administer the law as': to close the opening for evasipn which, is, offered by the new clause authorising' the sale, of liquor at meals until 8 o'clock,''
