An Italian official report states:— The enemy have concentrated strong forces, of which a large portion are German. Intense artillerying during the night [on the Julian front, between Rombou and the northern portion of the Bainsizza Plateau, marked the beginning of the attack. Owing to bad weather, the fire decreased at dawn.
