EXPERIENCE OF ZEPPELIN RAIDERS.
LONDON, Oct. 22
Mr G. H. Penis, correspondent with the French armies, says that the 'crews of the super-Zeppelins L 49 and L 5,0 confirm the fact that they partook in a single expedition against England. The fleet, which numbered 12, left their three ports- separately. When they reached England they were bothered .by anti-aircraft batteries and searchlighfcs. • They quickly dropped bombs, 1 and rose to a. height' of three miles, i whore they were caught in a strong j north-westerly wind aud became lost, j The cold was so extreme that the mo-j tors were frozen, and the men frostbitten^ amd i/horiilternators would not work.' It wa;s impossible to take any bearings. One captain at dawn thought he was over Holland or Westphalia,! then recognised he was over French soil.
