(Per Press Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, October 19. , Butter.—The shortage L^ acute, and the quoted price is 450s per, cwt. About 42,000 boxes of New Zealand butter have arrived in London, for which there is the keenest, conipetition . at maximum prices. It is reported that the Government is offering" 157s per cwt.,. f.0.b., for New Zealand's butter output. The Australian Butter Committee has written to Lord 'Rhondda protesting that the difference betweon Australian and Now Zealand ought notj to exceed 4s per cwt. A deputation under . the auspices of the National Dairy Association 'of New Zealand waited upon Lord Rhondda. urging him to raise the maximum price of New Zealand butter to the parity of Irish creamery; which is now quoted at 2245. Lord Rhondda promised to give the matter the fullest 1 consideration.
LONDON, October 20. Wheat is firm, and flour is in active demand, little being available. Oats, beans, and peas are scarce, and the market is hardening.
At the sheepskin sales no Australian sorte were offered, owing to the restrictions; 222 bales of puntas were offered, and sold at full late rates.
Rabbits and frozen meats are unchanged.
