ENTERTAINMENTS.

HAYWARD'S PICTURES.

The spectators at His Majesty's Theatre last evening had the opportunity of witnessing a unique production in the screening of " The Captive God." The. film, which' was . full of dramatic, thrill and dealt with, the strange, customs of the Aztec nation.' : According to -the customs of the people, every year a handsome young man was offered iip as a sacrifice to 1 the gods. The year preceding the sacrifice, he was surrounded with every luxury. The selected victim in the story was the ruler of a certain tribe, who, after some of Ibis people had been taken captive in warfare, set out to spy upon his enemies, and was himself taken prisoner. How he was protected and released by the princess of tne enemy tribe was, ably portrayed in exciting . scenes and battles, in which several hundreds participated. The photography throughout the picture was of a high order. Enthusiasts in horticulture had' presented to them an interesting study in " Garden Pests," which contained several pictures of destructive grubs and their different forms of activity upon the leaves of plants. Pictures of this description are highly instructive, and are always welcomo upon the screen. The " Gaumont (Traphic " was comprised of a fairly good selection of topical pictures. A comic completed the programme, which will be scroened again this evening.
