RUSSIAN ADVANCE NEAR KREVC

FURTHER SUCCESS JEOPARDISED

LONDON, July 23

A wireless Russian oilicial message states :—We attacked in the direction of Vilna, penetrating to a depth of two miles at some places in the neighbourhood of Krevo, taking prisoner over 1000. The instability of moral, and the weakness of certain detachments is jeopardising the development of any further success. The enemy continues the offensive between the Sereth, the Strypa, and the Zlota Lipa, and occupied four villages. There is intense enemy artillery activity southward of Cerezoveca and Vilka.
