MILK-TESTING.
RESULT OF SCHOOLS' COMPETITIONS.
Tho rosults oi' the milk-testing competition for school pupils, held in conjunction with the Ashhurton A. and P. Association show and judged by Messrs W. K. Watson and J. K. Cullen, were annoiuiced this morning. Twonty-five competitors elected to try their skill with the Babcock tester, and the results arc as follow (the maximum points for testing-.-was 85 and for 'oral .15) :■ — ' • ' '

Uakiey, 74 —14; titeplienson, 75—12; Withell, 74 —12; Wilson, 75—11; Scott, 72—13; A. Taylor, 77—8; Orr, 73—12; Waiters, 72—12; Lewis, 74— 10; McDonald, 75—8; Houlcy, 72— 11; T. Taylor, 70—11; Hunter, 74— 7; Gourley, 72— 8; Hillicr, 66—10; Ivilloh, 6«—8; J. McCallum, GO—9; Knight, 68—5; White, CO—10; Drenuau, 64 —5. Tlio judges, commenting on the testing, said that gonerally it showed a great improvement on last year's results, and careful attention to detail. The reading of the test was a credit to most oi' the competitors. Fifteen per coat, was the maximum allowed for time in taking the test, and the average- was about 8 per cent. The boys appear to have made a special study this year of the theoretical side of the question, and in quite a number of cases tho; questions tusked, although " catchy," were immediately and clearly answered by a, number of the older competitors. -In,the opinion of the examiners, Miller, Robilliard, Me--Calluin, Galbraith, and Oakley deserved special mention.
