Mx J.. M. Jeffries, writing from Athens, states that Vonizolos, on Christmas Day, was publicly oxcom : mimicatcd by the authorities of the Greek Church. The Government opposed this step, but Reservists forced the Metropolitan of Athens to perform the ceremony. . '. A "OiT buffs' head was placed m a ! square mado of stones, and tho Metropolitan, M-ith averted head,' pronounced the anathema. Reservists then marched past shoutinß " anathema.' . iifty thousand raon. women, and children cast stones, .cursing Venizolos as a traitor.
