I Private W. Cunningham, of Ashburton, who returned invalided from the front in January, has been appointed: a recruiting officer. Cable advice was received in Ashhurton to-day from Mrs John Findlay, London, stating that het husband (Lioutenant-Coioiiel Findlay, C.8.) and herself wei-e both well. At a social gathering held at Baring Square Church on Friday evening a presentation of a. bound volume of the Church J-lvmns was presented to Mrs M'oAlistor, who is leaving in a week's time to join her husband on the Wost Coast. The Rev. G. Frost reforred to tlio valuable services given to the choir by Mrs McAlister. He also spoke in terms oP appreciation of Mrs H. J. Constable's services in connection with church work, and stilted that the choir had decided to present her with a suitable memento, which would be forwarded to her at Auckland. On the eve of her departure for Christchurch, on Saturday, the staff of the New Zealand Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association, Ltd., presented Miss A. Dixon with a gold bangle. Miss Dixou, who has been employed on the clerical staff of the Co-op, for the past nine years, has received an appointment'in* the Tramway Offices at'Christchuroh. .Mr T. J. Hunter (manager of the. Co-operative Association), in making the presen tat ion, referred to the high esteem in which Miss -Bixon had been held by the firm and members of the staff. He wished her every success in her new sphere of work. —A social evening was held at Baring Square Church on Friday evening by the members, of the-.church to bid farewell to Miss Di.xon. The Rev. G. Frost, on behalf of the choir, -presented. Miss Dixon, with o. bound vorame of the Church Hymns, and. no behalf of the Bibie Class, with a sot of-wlver serviette rings, suitably engraved. Mr F,rost spoke of the sterling qualities of Miss Dixon. and how valuable her services had been to the church. The evening was devoted to games, and refreshment's were handed rc/spd.
