FARMER'S UNION.
CONFERENCE IN ASHBURTON*
IMPOiriANT QUESTIONS TO &X
DISCUSSED
A conference between representatives of the various branches of the Farmers' Union in the North and South Canterbury districts will bo held instil* Ashburton* A. and P. Association's rooms on Thursday next. The representatives will number about 30. The Prime has been asked to at" tend, but it is more than likely that he will nob bo able to be present. Other representatives of the Government have also been asked to come to the conference, and it is probable that there will bo several there. The organisers have also requested the presence, of the chairmen of the Ashbnrton and Timaru A. and P. Assorfntions.
The conference will commence at 10.30, and will^ in all likelihood last till-evening. The visitors will be the guests of the local Farmers' "Union to luncheon. •Among the more important qupstionsto be discussed will be-the following: 1. Sale and .shipment of frozen meat. ,2. Shipping charges on grain, «te. 3. Simplification of income inx-re-turns. : . 4. Improved., system of collection o\' grain statistics. ''' It is quite likely .that the question of compulsory military service will also come up for discussion, as well as manyminor considerations.
