A POPULAR POSITION
BOARD OF TRADE APPOINTMENT
' WELLINGTON, November 25. Though the tasks ahead of the new Board, of Trade arc extremely difficult, there 'is no lack of talent at tho Government's disposal. Three- members are to be appointed, one of.them will receive £1000 per annum and preside over tho board, and the other two will receive £600 each.
It is hoped that the hoard will manago to coutrol exhorbitant profits on the necessaries of life, a task which the Government failed to accomplish during the first 15 months of the war. The applications for the Board of Trade amount to nearly 200. Politicians and ex-politicians are said to be in strong force. No fewer than 32 applications came in on the date of closing and a dozen more were in tho' post at tho time-, and will be considered. The classification process will tako several days,, and Cabinet, is not likely to make an appointment for a fortnight.
