MKN UNDER THJ'.'ATMENT

WELLINGTON, November 25

On .November 15, 245 side and wounded soldiers were being treated in various hospitals and convalescent homes throughout New Zealand under the 'supervision of the Public Health Department. Forty men were at i&oto- • nui, 17 a.t Hanmer, 46 at Dunedin, 13 at Christchurch, 22 at AVnllingfton and 28 at Auckland, the other men being distributed over the Dominion in accordance, with the Department's policy of sending every man where possible to the. hospital nearest his home. Kef erring to these figures to-day the Minister in charge (the Hon. .G. W. Russell) stated that some of the returned men. were showing a tendency to tubercular disease. Six cases^ of this kind were being treated at Wai-lia-to Sanatorium and 10 eases at other sfiJ^a-toria-.

A deputAtiou of invalided soldiers w*iited on Mr Massey to-day to represent certain grievances. They stated

they had been given leave and ordored to report themselves for medical examination on December 29...
