METHVEN A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

The monthly meeting of the Methven Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held ou Monday evening. v Correspondente. in connection '^with ,the Seed Growers' Association was received, and Mr T. Doherty was appointed to represent the Methven Association on that body.

The secretary reported having received renewals of special prizes as follow :—National Mortgage, Limited, £3 3s, Now Zealand Farmers' Co-op. £5 ss, Christchurch Meat Company £3 3s, Canterbury Frozen Meat Company £2 2s, John Grigg £2 2s, G. Gerard £2 2s, Dixon Bros. £2 2s, Nicoll £2 2s, Dalgety and Co. £2 2s, Beath and Co. £2 2s, Blackburne and Smi^h 30s, Aulsebrook Jind Co., Strange and Co., Fletcher Humphreys and Co., A. J. White, Ltd., and •Ballantyne and; Co. £1 Is; each, J. T. Doherty, Piano Company, • Buxton and Co., A. Christie 10s 6d each, Miss Comer 7s 6d.

It was resolved to postpone the revision of the schedule till Monday week.

Messrs J. Marr, S. Robinson, and E. G. McCullough were elected members of the association.

Mr C. A. Cuff tendered his resignation as president, and treasurer owing to leaving the district, having been transferred to To Aroha.

After some discussion it was resolved to accept Mr Cuff's resignation as treasurer, arid to grant him leave of absence from the 'chair till the expiration of. his <-period of office. It was unanimously decided, in view of tho valuable help Mr Cuff had rendered to the association, to ejpet him a, life member and also to iake the necessary steps in conjunction with various other bodies to present him with an illuminated address as a slight token of esteem for the many valuable services'he' had rendered to the district [as a whole.

Mr H. Green was elected to the position of treasurer.

i The secretary, was instructed to write {o the chairman of the Mount Hutt Road Board requesting him to call'a meeting at an early date for the purpose of electing a committee to tender receptions to and bid farewell to soldiers of the district, as the present system was not satisfactory. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Stewart for the work and time he had given in connection with = the ••.movement; 1-.* ••• •■
