VISITORS FROM CHRISTCHURCH.

The Mayor of Christchurch (Mr. H. Holland) and Miss M. Tabart, one of the executive of the Ghristchurch'- Red Cross Society, paid an unofficial visit to the Ashburton lle<l Cross Society yesterday. Mr Holland, who was-in-troduced by the Mayor of Ashburton (Mr R. Galbraith) congratulated; the ladies on the work that had been 5 done and was being done by them, and gave a brief outline of the work tha^ had heon carried out by tho. sociew,, in; Christchurch. . Miss Tabart- also, added, her. tribute to the manner in ,which the. ladies of this district had been carrying on their good work. The local ladies provided afternoon tea for the visitors. Miss Tabart afterwards paid a,M;ound of visits to the various, sewing guilds doing work for the; society. Both left for Christchurch by the second express last evening.
