ASHBURTON STOCK MARKET.

TINWALD YARDS—THIS DAY

,There was a. good attendance ■at .tliei: Ashburton weekly stock sale held at.theTinwald yards to-day, when the yarding was some 200 short of last week's total at tho'iAshburton yards, the shortage being on the store pens. The yards of fat sheep totalled 503, and included 341 fat ewes, 96 fai'wethers, 23 fat lambs, and 43 fat hoggets. Butchers being the only purchasers in the fat pens, the yarding was in excess 'Of tho demand, and the quality of the sheep was also below that of late markets, and consequently markets suffered somewhat;-', and were from 2s^ to 3s lower than "the ■ previous week while several lines were passed at auction. Woolly ewes made up to 27s 6cl, and shorn owes to 24s 9d, woolly wethers to 25s and shorn to 265, woolly hoggets to 26s 6d, fat lambs to 245. The yarding of store sheep totalled 1572, as against 1774 last week at the Ashburton yards, and included 665 hoggets, the balance being dry ewes and f-wos with lambs at foot. Thero was little doing in the store sheep market, and out of the yarding 1211 were passed at auction. The yarding of cattle was the largest seen at an Ashburton market for some considerable time, and the selling was not 'finished Until well on in the• fat srvpep sale. Owing to farmers being /■or.-iioHed to sell owing to the shortage of 'fpod, most of the vardings changed li^K. Fats sold well, but stores were at bedrock prices. [ Sheep.
