OBITUARY
GEORGE PRITCHARD
The death occurred on Saturday last of Mr George Pritchard, who for many years was a resident of the Ash burton County. The lato Mr Pritchard, who was 45 years of age, came out to New Zealand from England 40 years ago, and settled with his parents in Ashbur-t-on. As a young, man, he was apprenticed to the printing trade oii ■ the Auhburton " Mail " Office, 28 .years ago, and he-was afterwards a compositor and journeyman compositor on the paper, with which he was'connected for about nine years. When the Government purchased 'and cut up the Highbank Estate, thd late Mr Pritchard was a successful' applicant for one' of .tho .sections.,, and. ho took up 'farming at Marawhiti—a pursuit which he carried-out successfully up till about sjx roars ago, when he retired, owing :to ill health, and went to 'live at Christchurch. He was a prominent member of the- Moth yon Masonic Lodge. The lato Mr Pritchard leaves a wife and one son to mourn, their loss. Mr Fred. Pritchard, of the Ashburton County Council, is.a brother to the deceased.
