NORTHERN OPERATIONS.
GERMAN BID FOR DVINSK. - ATTACKS REPULS&tf. PETROGRAD, October 26. A communique says: — " We repulsed five , determined attacks southward of Illutsk railway and on tho loft bank of the Dwina. During the sixth the Germans entered one of, our works. We cut up the majority and captured the remainder. ! " The enemy pressed us at one point in tho Koran row district (in tho south), but; reinforcements* saved tho situation. ■ Tlvo High Commissioner reports: — ■ LONDON. October 2(J. (7.35 p.m.). On the left bank of the Dwina six German attacks" were repulsed. East; of fllutsk there was terrific fightinp. against the Gorman advance,, which was unable to develop. r, ' There wore ferocious attacks west . of Czartorisk. During- a . counterattack the Russians captured 1000 men. •
