ALLEGED SLANDER.
MINISTERS' ACTIONS FAIL. MELBOURNE, October 20. In ihe actions for alleged slander brought by the Right Hon. Andrew Fislii'-r iiiid the Hon. G. F. Poarco, against, -ian'ies Spr'ncer, a verdict for defendant was returned in both cases.
(A cablegram tYnm Melbourne .on July 22. :-rated that Mr Fisher had isfi.cd :i wrif. against James Spencer, drill foreman, claiming damages for an alle:::r'd slander in a statement imputing that the plaintiff had committed a criminal offence calculated to .imperil his holding the position of Prime Minster. . A cablegram on July 24 stated that vhe Hon. G. P. Poarce had issued a writ claiming £'1000 damages from Spencer, for alleged slander on the same, occasion as that which led to Mr Fisher issuing a writ).
