AUCKLAND; October 18. At the Arbitration Court the Merchant Service Guild applied for a new j award in connection with the employ- j mont of members by tlib Northern Steamship Company ;and the owners of small vessels registered at Auckland.;' The demands of the union were'similar to the Wellington award. Increased wages were sought on different classes of vessels. Tho hours of work sought are- eight per day. After evidence, the President said that the guild had riot placed much data before tho Court on which to frame an award. Decision was , reserved.
