ADVANCE IN THE TRENTINO.
ROME, October 18. The Italians stormed fortified positions at Pregasina, and made an important advance to the point of tho fortified Riva group, in the difficult mountainous region west of Lake' Garda. . , An official communique says:— "An action at Pregasina began on Tuesday night. Despite the hoavy fire of the, powerful batteries at Rica out troops reached the entanglements in ">' fog and cut openings in them. They resumed the attack in the morningj and under rifle and artillery' fire and asphyxiating bombs, they advanced beyond Pregasina to the heights dominating the Ledro Valley, where they solidly established themselves. Riva is 20 miles south-west of Trent, and is a busy port at the extreme north-west end of Lake Garda. P'rejra---sina is a small town on the height;; overlooking the west shore of the' lake, thre&miles south-south-west of . Riva. Pregasina commands the Ledro Valley, through which the Ponalo River flows into Lake Garda. about a mile away.
