AUCKLAND,- October 18. j i Alexander Glcnnie, 69, years of age,; was found in Cornwall Park, on a wood heap, with a deep cut in his wrist, suffering from loss--of blood and shock, i from which he died ■at the Costlcy Homo. He stated that he sustained injuries thiiough falling from a. window. At the inquest evidence was given that deceased was found, alongside a. chopping block. There was a, sharp axe close by with bloodstains on tho blade. ' Deceased said that bo might have inijjurcd himself with the axe, but ho did ; not remember. A verdict of death jduo to exposure and exhaustion followi ing severe haemorrhage was returned. CHRISTCHURCH, October J9 Yesterday afternoon a boy roaih four years of age, son of Mr Johv Doran. was found dead undor a dr"j 'shaft in the Kaiapoi Shipping Com■pany's timber yard, Charles Ftieot [The dray had been left with tho shilts I propped up, and it is supposed^-tho j little fellow, when playing near, caused | the prop to move and tho shaft to fall j.'on him. breaking his"neck. No rao Haw the accident. An inquest will bo held. ■ D'UNEDIN. Octolxir (3 Andrew- Smith, aged 60, a b^\makor.took poison yesterday, dyinp- in half-an hour.. He had been in illhealth.
