High prices are checking consumption, and are driving the public to margarine, which many retailers are assiduously pushing. Danish nominally is quoted at 201s. An official quotation is temporarily suspended. The Germans are still paying huge prices. There is a great scarcity in other fats: Possibly butter oil tickets will be introduced similar to bread tickets. The Women's .Association is circulating pamphlets throughout Germany giving instructions lioav to cook without fat. CHEESE. The cheese market is firm. New Zealand 78s. The Government has resumed purchasing from Canada. WOOL. Bradford tops elicit rather more inquiry. Quotations are:—64's, spot 38d, futures 36d; super 60'r, 37dand 35d; I ordinary, 36d and 34d; 56's, 31-H----l-50's, 28d; 46's/»24Ad; 4.o's, '220. " .j WHEATj."FLOUR, AND OATS. t The wheat market is firm, jind there are few offers. Prices for flour are advancing owing to supplies being short.
