VIOLENT BOMBARDMENT. BOTH SIDES VERY ACTIVE. (Received October 16, noon.) PARIS, October 15. A communique states: — There was a violent reciprocal bombardment last night at Loos and northeastward of Souchez. There was lively grenade fighting southward of Boisen and Hache and an intense cannonade at Lihons. Our batteries energetically replied to the enemy's concentrated artillery against our positions eastward of Axibcrieve. We checked violent artillery and machine gun firo before Letricourt, and directed a hurricane of fire upon German works northward of Reillon. There was a violent struggle with trench engines at Chapelotte, Lingekopf, and Barrenkopf.
