ENEMY ISLAND FIRM.
A RECEIVER APPOINTED. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON," October -■*. The Government is sending to Samoa a receiver for the Deutsche Handels und Plantagen Gesellschaft. The officer is Mr A. Matheson, who was ■■with 'Messrs Da lgety and Co. in New Zea-; land, and has business, experience in the Islands. Mr Matheson had enlisted for service with the Expeditionary Forces, but the Government decided to employ, him for special duty. Referring to this matter to-day, the Hon. J. Allen said that Colonel Logan, the administrator of Samoa, had taken charge of the German company already. I Colonel Logan undoubtedly was doing [his best to conserve British interests | among the Pacific Islands and to provent trading with the enomy.- He did not control" Tongan trade, but the whole matter was being watched very carefully.
