, « PARIS, September 20. JMr J. Hodge, M.P. (Labour), in an interview in the " Petit Parisien," says: "If conscription is necessary we will submit to it, and also to everything else that is necessary to secure our triumph." LONDON, September 20. Fifty-five thousand organised workmen, chiefly Monmouthshire miners, have passed resolutions against conscription. •Mr James Winsbone, acting-presi-dent of the South Wales Miners' Federation, says that if Mr Lloyd George wished to retain the confidence and support of trade unions he must' declare against' conscription. Mr Winsbone added that millions more men would volunteer if necessary," but it would be fatal to introduce Prussian '- militarism into England. Mrs Pankhurst, speaking m London, • advocated compulsory national service for every man and woman. "^ '
