YOUNG WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE UNION.

The " V " branch of "the Women's Christian Temperance Union held its monthly meeting in the Victoria Hr.ll. on Monday evening. The evening took the form of a debate on the following subject: " That the employment of female labour during the war is in the best interests of women." The affirmative side was led*by Mrs F. 1-1. Broom, who was supported by Miss B. Brown; while the negative side had Miss Rosevear for its leader, with Miss M. Kennedy as seconder. After .nn earnest discussion the vote went in favour of the affirmative side, the" meeting deciding, that the employment of-female .labour in this crisis brings fresh responsibility, to women and is of mental and pecuniary- benefit to them.
