A SUCCESSFUL PATROL
ENCOUNTER
LONDON, Sept. 16
The War Office reports that 60 British and 100 Indian Infantry surprised a strong enemy patrol, on Tuesday, eight miles south of Maktau, in East Africa. After a sharp fight, the enemy fled, leaving one white man and 31 natives dead, besides-wounded. Our casualties were three dead and eight wounded. Rifles and ammunition were captured.
