(Per Press Association). A MENTAL PATIENT'S DEATH. WARDER ON TRIAL. WELLINGTON, August 11. The trial is proceeding, at the Supreme Court, before the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout), of John Dickson, charged with the manslaughter of James Hamblyn, a patient at Porirua Mental Hospital, by neglecting to perform his legal duty. The prisoner was a warder at the institution, and it is alleged, that he allowed Hamblyn to enter a bath which was so hot that ho was severely scalded, aond died 28 hours later.
