BANKRUPTCY LAWS.

AMENDMENT NEEDED. WELLINGTON, August 5. , At the Chamber of Commerce Conference to-day the following resolutions were adopted: — ! " That it be an instruction of the conference to its executive that when giving effect to the resolution in regard to the amendments of the bankruptcy law, which was agreed "to, it shall, if possible, arrange so that registered private assignees may be substituted for local public assignees on the lines laid down in the regulations adopted by the 1909 conference. If, however, it is found impossible to do this, then the plan as suggested by Mr Myers might be adopted (that official assignees undertake private assignments); but whatever arrangement is come to care must be taken to preserve the creditors' right to employ private assignees when they think fit. "That this Chamber suggests that the Bankruptcy Act be amended in the direction of giving greater powers to creditors in the realisation of assots."
