LONDON, August 2. The Vico-Admiral in commancVin the Eastern Mediterranean reports that a British submarine in the Sea of Marmora torpedoed a steamer of -3<jia) tons off Mudania pier. Several sailing vessels were secured alongside the steamer. The .explosion was very heavy. The submarine also torpedoed ; a - small steamer close to Karaboglia'Bay. Constantinople reports that a. gunboat was torpedoed. Possibly this is the same incident.
Torpedoes were also fired .it lighters alongside the Constantinople Arsenal. There were 'heavy explosions, but the result could not be seen. The _ submarine also • bombarded the Zeitunli powder mills, but could ■ not ascertain the results owing to the darkness. 1+ also bombarded the railway west of Kara Burnu, blocking the line so that a troop train was unable to pass. The train was fired at as it steamed back, and three truckloads of ammunition were blown up.
