ADVANCE OF THE BRITISH. POSITION MATERIALLY IMPROVED. GOOD WORK BY AUSTRALIANS NEW -ZEALANDERS. (Received August 4, 8.40, a.m.) LONDON, August 3. Sir lan Hamilton reports:—" Attacks fxom tho Turkish trenches threatening our safety, we advanced to a post known as ' Tasmania Post and bfepnetted 70 Turks. We gained the crest of a ridge and materially improved our position in the evening. "Tho advance was the result or a successful attack by the Australian and New Zealand Corps, occupying the right, against .a ■ network of trenches, threatening the safety ol j 1 Tasmania Post.' there was.^ bombardment of sections of the Turkish! trenches - and an explosion of three mines under them. These trenches were occupied immediately and another section rushed with the bayonets."
